We offer you STRAIGHT TEETH FAST with the Damon® System
Clear & Metal Braces.
Damon® System braces are self-ligating braces, and an alternative to traditional braces and aligners. Thanks to our extensive training and expert application, we can give you a new, straight smile in about six months.
Damon® System combines tieless braces with high technology arch wires that are clinically proven to move teeth fast and comfortably with truly spectacular smile and facial results.
Traditional treatment often requires removal of healthy teeth and/or the use of palatal expanders to make space. This approach is often uncomfortable, takes longer, and can leave a narrower arch and a flat profile. Damon smiles are full, natural 10-tooth smiles achieved with light biologically-sensible forces, and are specifically designed to improve the overall facial result of each patient.
How Damon Orthodontic Treatment Works
Damon® Clear or Metal braces are part of the innovative Damon System, which combines tieless brackets and high technology archwires that are clinically proven to move teeth fast and comfortably with spectacular smile and facial results.
Damon uses what's called a "passive" slide mechanism to maintain archwires within the bracket, allowing them to move freely. This reduces friction and binding, so your teeth can move quickly and more comfortably.
The Damon System is a whole-new treatment approach that aligns your teeth and enhances your facial aesthetics – usually without tooth extractions or rapid palatal expanders.
Damon® self-ligating metal brackets offer patients the advantages of advanced technology combined with more comfortable orthodontic treatment. Damon® braces provide a much lower profile than traditional braces available today and have no need for the use of elastics or metal ties to connect the arch wire to the brackets.
Virtually invisible, Damon® Clear has obvious advantages over traditional braces and aligners. Damon® Clear braces are also self-ligating and combine the best of traditional clear braces and invisible aligners to deliver a more discrete treatment experience.
Why are Damon Braces Popular?
Damon System braces have gained popularity quite steadily since their invention for the following reasons:
- Faster treatment: Treatment is said to be faster with Damon braces vs traditional braces. These braces require less time for treatment than traditional braces.
- Esthetics: You can get either clear or metal braces with the Damon System. The clear brackets are virtually invisible, making them a great option for adults and teens who don’t want it to be super noticeable that they are wearing braces.
- Fewer office visits: Fewer in-office visits were required.
- Less pressure: Since they are self-ligating, they are also less painful, or at least, the pain is less intense because it is more spread out than with traditional braces.
- Easier to clean: Since these braces have fewer parts and add-ons than regular braces, there are fewer places for plaque to build up, and they are easier to brush and floss.
- Less friction: The smaller amount of friction with the Damon System means less deterioration of teeth and enamel.
Braces for All Ages
Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry concerned with alignment of the teeth and improve appearance. Orthodontics is devoted to building beautiful smiles by bringing teeth, lips, and jaws into proper alignment. Straight teeth function better, are easier to clean, and are more likely to last your lifetime.
We usually recommend braces to improve the patient's:
- crooked teeth
- crowded teeth
- uneven spacing
- Undesirable gaps between teeth
- Protruded teeth and/or jaw
- Lack of symmetry of the face
- TMJ symptoms
- Breathing problems
Braces for Children
Although patients of any age can benefit from orthodontic braces, they tend to work much quicker on pre-teens and teenagers since they are still experiencing jaw growth. The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends that children should first see an orthodontist around the age of seven years-old. An orthodontic examination may be beneficial before age seven if facial or oral irregularities are noted.
Causes of Teeth Misalignment
Poorly aligned teeth often cause problems speaking, biting and chewing. Most irregularities are genetic or occur as a result of developmental issues. Conversely, some irregularities are acquired or greatly exacerbated by certain habits and behaviors such as:
- Mouth breathing
- Thumb or finger sucking
- Prolonged pacifier use
- Poor oral hygiene
- Poor nutrition
Braces for Adults
Today, an increasing number of adults are choosing to wear braces to straighten their teeth and correct malocclusions (bad bites). In fact, it is now estimated that almost one third of all current orthodontic patients are adults.
Orthodontic braces are predictable, versatile and incredibly successful at realigning the teeth. Braces work in the same way regardless of the age of the patient, but the treatment time is greatly reduced in patients who are still experiencing jaw growth and have not been affected by gum disease. In short, an adult can experience the same beautiful end results as a teenager, but treatment often takes longer.
When children and teenagers are treated, we plan the final outcome to be one of great stability. Many of our patients undergo treatment without the need of extractions, providing a beautiful smile, versus one that is collapsed as seen in treatments done in past decades. This allows for their jaw to have great balance and avoids locking of their jaw. This, in the long run, avoids the occurrence of TMJ problems.
Orthodontics can do so much more that just straighten your teeth. It can help in the treatment of headaches and TMJ problems. Both of these are mainly due to bite irregularities and severe wear, causing many of the muscles of the head to overwork themselves. The consequence is the onset of headache symptoms. Many patients contact us as a last resort to address their problems. As the patient’s bite is reorganized into the right position, muscle strain is alleviated, therefore correcting the source of the headaches.
